The 404 or Not Found error message is a HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server, but the server could not find what was requested.

Images work directly in image folder with IIS but give 404 in subfolders of that directory
The fastest solution with less headache is to just add the file extension you need but gives 404 to the mime types as bellow:
select website from IIS Manager
add file extension to Mime Types …
