You can remove it with URL Rewriting like that :
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /product.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
Place this code in .htaccess at root.
