We have a parent html page that loads within it iframe page using javascript.

Right now the iframe page has meta tag asking it to be indexed "index, nofollow" ... and we see the content of iframe page is also searchable against the parent page. In other words, any keywords from within the iframe content also results in the parent page to show up in google search results.

The problem we are running into is, the iframe page itself shows up in the google search results.

A simple solution is to set the meta tag of iframe page to "no index, nofollow" and iframe will not be indexed and won't show in google search results on its own.

My question is, if we do that, will that also remove getting iframe content indexed against the parent page? In other words, will the keywords from within the iframe page be still searchable against parent page?

If the answer no, is there a solution where we don't have iframe showing up in google search results on its own but its content still getting indexed against the parent page?
