How is it possible for Google Analytics to show a "Property Hit Volume" of, oh, 10 or so in the last day, but report no data, no visitors, no transactions, no nothing?

I've got a web shop that uses an external service for an affiliate program of a bigger web shop. The external service allows me to enter a Google Analytics Account ID (UA-xxxxxxx-x) and is supposed to send a transaction to Google - I assume server-to-server. I set up a separate property to keep these transaction from messing up my conversion ratio, and this property shows nothing. But the "Property Hit Volume" shows a steady volume of hits. What could cause this?

I suspect Google Analytics is filtering out the hits because of something something related to the server-to-server tracking, and there never having been a normal hit to this property. I'm just not sure where to look.

  • I don't have an answer to this, though I doubt the source of the hits is the problem. Filtration all happens at the View level - do you have a View for this property with no filters applied, User ID Reports disabled, and Bot Filtering unchecked? – Reve Jan 4 at 14:15
