In cosmotown I have these 2 options:

enter image description here

This is how the screen for the first option looks like:

enter image description here

And the second option:

enter image description here

I am a newbie and I don't have much experience with domains and DNS and I couldn't find anything useful in Google. If my understanding is correct, the "Domain NameServers" option is to configure other DNS servers but I don't really know when exactly would cosmotown use these DNS servers. My understanding is that it would use them when I enter <anything>.properlyexplained.com in the address bar of my browser to find the IP address of the <anything> subdomain even though in theory a DNS server could host names for other root domains like google.com. It wouldn't make sense for cosmotown to query other root domains from the DNS servers that I configure there but I can't see anywhere any kind of confirmation of this. Could you please confirm my understanding is correct on this one?

In the last screenshot you will notice there is a field where you can enter the IP address. I also find this confusing because I understand it would be the IP address of the DNS server, but then what does the hostname field refer to?

EDIT: I noticed I can't add in the hostname field anything with a dot:
