Digital computers recognize only strings of 1/0 (because electronics recognizes on/off states of switches). They don't recognize alphabet case or anything else unless a programmer arranges it. To ignore the codes for different case requires more programming in other words. You lose additional combinatorial richness too, as Michael pointed out. | |
