@LazyOne Alas, I use a cheap host that does not allow keep-alive connections

comment Using <audio> in Firefox with JavaScript
@LazyOne i was wrong its not the file - when i set the source to be: vorbis.com/music/Epoq-Lepidoptera.ogg, it works when i download the same file and point to the local copy it does not work, the development server, IIS 7, and vorbis.com (Apache/2.2.3) all return a 206 - the difference seems to the that connection header which Vorbis sets to keep-alive: Vorbis Headers: pastebin.com/tsWP4kT5 IIS Headers (My website): pastebin.com/rqyrAkh4

@LazyOne it seems to be a problem with the ogg file itself - the same code works with a different ogg file. Although the suspected file plays in Firefox when accessed directly, but not, it would appear, in the audio element. Also the file is the result of a conversion from mp3, so it wouldn't surprise me if that's the problem but of course its odd that it still plays when navigated to directly...

@LazyOne when i added an alert() to the playMusic() function, it produced the appropriate message box, so it certainly seems like the javascript works and that the function is being called but cannot be successfully executed

yes it validates, audio is an html5 element, which firefox supports, the problem is with it not executing the javascript to control the audio element

comment JavaScript control of <audio> not working in Firefox, works in Chrome
That certainly seems like the problem - it returns a 206 partial content for the ogg file. Thanks.
