Been on the Internet since before there was an Internet. Remember UUCP, news feeds, and Gopher?

comment Can I invoke Google to check my robots.txt?
Whelp, if you put deny on the root then I guess you're kind of SOL. In my case, it was a subfolder that was being refused, so forcing a reread of robots.txt through the mechanisms provided actually worked.

comment Site violates Google's quality guidelines - Can't figure out why
the price is too high, as you can now see. As one of our competitors found out, 6 months to selling of company. Muck with the search engines, get banned, try to make up for it with print advertizing = massive reduction in profits and bankruptcy. And we didn't have to do a thing, the wound was totally self inflicted. Three weeks in SERP positions 1 to 3 doesn't make up for the time period you're banned.

comment Why don't websites have contact emails?
Basically what we found to be the case. If you advertise the emails, you get tremendous amounts of junk (4,000-10,000 a day) and the forms have cut it out. The administrative costs aren't worth it.

comment Why don't websites have contact emails?
The flamin' amount of spam received is the reason. There are ways of controlling it with a form. The prime example is postmaster@ or abuse@ spam. Given that both accounts are there to get rid of it, why do these accounts get junk mail sent to them?

comment How much weight does Google give to keyword placement?
At one time it was supposedly worthwhile to use CSS-P to move all the content to the top in HTML, leaving all the nav, footers and ads at the bottom. Don't hear much about it anymore. Any proof this isn't SEO magical thinking?

comment How to block baidu spiders
Yandex obeys robots.txt I had them locked out till we realized a good chunk of our business comes from Russia and had to remove the block. Baidu, you have to check the netblocks. Not all Baidu announced UA are actually Baidu so you need to do a robots.txt block for the legitimate Baidu traffic and then do a UA string block in your .htaccess for what remains and then waste your life doing block by block identification and denial for the rest that gets around the UA string block. It's just as much work as just beefing your server up to take the traffic.

comment Web hosting does not matter?
Trust of the hosting domain != hosting provider. Your domain's trust is dependent on who you've linked with and your avoidance of banned SEO techniques. The worry with hosting providers comes from block lists that use IP addresses if you're on a shared server, but that's a whole 'nuther discussion.

comment Set IP address to point to certain domain
IP is being shared among many domains. In other words name based VHost. Which means it only knows which website to load if it is accessed using a host/domain name. You cannot contact it by IP, it hasn't been set up to resolve to a default host if contacted without a host/domain name, thus the recommended need to append the home folder.

comment Flipping text is good for SEO?
The better question is "Do humans enter searches using flipped letters"? If not, then no... It doesn't help SEO.

comment Why was my site rejected for Google Adsense?
In the world of flames, that was an icecube. Many, many people come here with this question. Out of several billion pages that have been written on the subject 16 articles would have to be really exceptional to interest Google, or anyone else.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. An infinite content honeytrap probably will be recognized pretty quickly by Google and given a dose of digital Malthion.

comment Usage of meta tag “generator”
If you're gathering statistical analysis on that, it would be useful. As a site admin, I'm more interested in the User Agents so I know what browsers to support and test with.
