How do I install PHP 5.4.8 on a Win XP workstation? I do not think that bunch of a simple links can be treated as a good answer. I suggest putting answer yourself -- you can tell what link was good for you and describe some hints/experience in general -- this will be much better answer in such situation. |

I did one of those few months back for a friend and it worked (personally I'm using IIS 7 on Windows 7, so installation is "a bit" different, as IIS 7 differs from IIS 6 and earlier). |

Links in my site have been hacked Try checking your site from another computer or (at very least) another browser -- maybe your computer just got some nasty software installed that does this. If that is not the case -- then worth checking IIS configuration (and web.config files in particular) -- maybe links got overwritten using URL Rewrite Module (it can rewrite incoming and outgoing links). |

Do Parallels Plesk Panel 11 have free inbuilt firewall? For Windows it is there: Power User Mode demo -> Server tab -> Tools & Settings -> Tools & Resources -> IP Addresses -> Firewall (button). But it does not work on demo site (for obvious reasons). It uses Windows own firewall, no idea what it will use on Linux hosts. |

How to re-direct Wordpress posts with 301 Possibly the easiest solution here would be to use rel="canonical": support.google.com/webmasters/bin/… ; googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2009/02/… ; Redirect solution may also work (just generic regex), but since it will be generic regex, it may have false positives. The best solution therefore would be to redirect not at .htaccess level, but rather in actual PHP code, when proper URL is known for sure (compare actual URL to the expected one and if they differ redirect -- exactly the same approach used on this site). |

how long after a 301 redirect can i cancel my old site Better keep it. Some people will still be searching for you (in case they are typing URL directly) using old address .. or using OLD bookmark. What if somebody else will buy that .com domain and use it to create competitive site (such probability depends on what kind of site you have here)? So in general -- better keep them both. |

Link to pages on site without .html extension appearing in browser? @Anime163 Definitely No. Browser analyse server response headers ( Content-Type in particular) as well as actual file content to identify correct format (display/processing method). It is not a surprise to see on the web file with .jpg extension that in fact is .png file (or other way around). If on my site all pages have .do extension -- how browser should treat them (accordingly to your logic)? |

prevent IIS from executing scripts in a specific directory @cdonner If you have access to the server's file system directly (or can execute commands that will affect file system), then just use appropriate security permissions on such web.config to prevent any access over FTP (or whatever is required). |
