comment How to translate Umlauts and other International characters to US character set?
There are a lot of "international characters", and there isn't unanimity on how to transliterate them to the Latin alphabet. E.g. the Cyrillic letter Ц can be ts (as in Yeltsin), tz, cz, ... The Corpus of Contemporary American includes all three of tzar, czar, and tsar.

comment Is there a tool that converts css to less.css?
@JoelRodgers, why does the cascading nature of CSS imply that "decompilers" will be buggy? (Obviously a decompiler might be buggy, but in principle it's not hard to tell whether a reordering of terms will change the semantics).

This answer assumes zero false positives on the part of YouTube's matching system, which is incorrect.

comment How to get an RSS feed (or equivalent) of photos from defined Facebook Page and User Profiles?
The subtext of my point was that when a client says they want something which appears substandard I check that they are aware of the better options and have made a decision. A lot of the time, what the client says they want and what they really want are two different things, and requirements gathering is about finding out what they really want. If you've suggested to your friend that a better approach would be to upload to Flickr and have an automated process to post the photos from Flickr to Facebook, it would be worth editing the question to include that information.

Why Facebook? Flickr offers RSS and less downscaling of the photos.

comment Does anyone know where I can register a website with a .cat TLD?
@IlmariKaronen, home, if he can't read the Catalan FAQ they'll probably reject his application anyway :P

Libya's usage restrictions aren't the same as the PuntCAT Foundation's. If you put up a website without Catalan content you risk losing the domain.

comment Does it make sense to return a 410 instead of 404 when some page has been permanently removed?
It goes both ways, though: a really crappy bot might only recognise 200 and 404.

comment Is there a way to compile LESS files to CSS (so that every browser doesn't have to)?
@Lèsemajesté, I'd just go with SASS, but I didn't want to be accused of wilfully ignoring the possibility of compiling LESS in Ruby.
