comment Why don't people upgrade their browsers?
=> It makes our jobs a little harder.<= Did I read "a little"? "a little"? Is it a typo or what? I've lost hours and hours of totally useless development to make my websites cross-browsers compatible. And yes, it is useless.

comment Apache: Virtual Host and .htacess for URL Rewriting not working
Yep for every change you restart apache but this way apache will never have to check each time the htaccess when someone will read a page. Htaccess files in your case are far less efficient than htaccess. Think about that when going in prod. environment

comment Forward .html/.htm to .php with .config
"I'm moving a site from my linux hosted server to a client's windows hosted server." => How comes? (°.o) this is nonsense to me it's usually the opposite move.

comment General website publishing questions involving domain forwarding issue
If you have Server 2008 and IIS 7.5 I'm out of topic. How about getting a webserver that is used by more than 60% of the web servers all around the world, that is free and open source, and that can run on a system that is free, open source, and both stable and no viruses known????? Sorry I can't help saying that sometimes.

comment Need some help on tomcat URL mod_rewrite or mod_jk
Is there a link with "www.domainname.com/"? I mean do you plan to do other rewrite rules for other domains that will use your app too?

comment Do meta keywords have any impact on ranking algorithms?
@Christian Every single website you do might be harm as it makes it easier for competitors to see what and who you are targeting... I mean your comment is basically true for everything in Internet ;)

comment .htaccess rewrite www to non-www and remove .html
Thank you very much for the note, I seldom use .htaccess files (they slow down Apache), I'm using only vhost files.

comment .htaccess rewrite www to non-www and remove .html
I think he asked for the opposite but in many rewrite rule questions, people are confused and ask the wrong way ;) Thanks for your comment I'll add that to my answer

comment Verify 2 cookies with mod_rewrite before serving images
If the "auth" arrives in the cookie first (i.e. before "id") your rule won't work.
