Can I place a directory that lists other companies contact details on my commercial website? It depends on the company. For example, the following quote is from the Terms of Use ( fisglobal.com/termsofuse ) of a site I work on: "The material, information, and content on this Web site are copyrighted property of FIS and may not be copied, distributed, republished, uploaded, posted, or transmitted without express written consent. Any reproduction, modification, or other use is expressly prohibited." ... If I were in your situation, I would contact each company directly to see what they're okay with. |

302 & 503 for temporary site down page: what to use for 'retry-after'? I agree. If I were in Miak's position, I would set Retry-After to 1 day. |

Patenting a Web Application before launch? That's true about what the app "does" vs. "how it does it." But what if someone takes your idea and changes it around enough so it's not exactly the same - Would you play the cat and mouse game with them of trying to show infringement? I think one of your best defenses against theft is to build a brand so people know that yours is the trusted resource for doing whatever your app does. |

One JS/CSS bundle Vs. One with default and one with custom In Firebug you can test with it both cached and uncached. You may be surprised at what you find. On most sites I run, the page loads faster when the CSS and JS needed at page load is included directly on the page - than when pulling from cached, external CSS and JS files. Even if a resource is cached the browser still has to do a HTTP lookup, get a 304 (Not Modified) response, and load from the cache. |

How to protect SHTML pages from crawlers/spiders/scrapers? If you want to lock down content you have to use authentication (e.g. username/password). |
