I'm currently in my final year at the University of Nottingham reading Computer Science.
My main area of interest is web development and functional programming which may seem at opposite ends of the spectrum but I find them both fascinating!
I started a web design business in 2006 and have been building progressively more complex content management systems ever since then.
I'm currently working on a JavaScript optimiser written in Haskell for my dissertation so expect lots of questions related to that!

What's the practical difference between dedicated and virtual private servers? Thanks, that's a great answer. I have a couple of queries. Surely if the specs I pay for say "2 VCPUs and Guarateed 2GB RAM" etc, I will be guaranteed 2 processing cores? Also, will the fact that it's running on a virtual machine make any difference to the speed of execution? |
