Why is the EU cookie directive causing so much excitement? @Lèsemajesté don't panic! :) After reading the directives myself I have come to the conclusion that session cookies will be allowable should this come into force. I still disagree with your assessment of digest authentication however and suggest you read berenddeboer.net/rest/authentication.html |

Google Analytics and the EU cookie directive. Who will fall foul of the law? Google or the developer? thanks for your contribution to this question and for putting something out there freely available to help webmasters and stimulate debate. Like @Nick I reckon it would be great if you could share some of the actual communication you have had with the ICO. I have emailed ICO with a URL to this question and asked for their input as well BTW. |

Google Analytics and the EU cookie directive. Who will fall foul of the law? Google or the developer? What makes them first party cookies? GA is a third party service so therefore surely any cookie set by it is a third party cookie. |

Why are captcha fields so prevelant across the internet? @EduardoMolteni I am afraid that delving into those techniques is not the purpose of the question nor is there enough room in the comments section to go into enough detail. BS = big surprise right? ;-) |

Why are captcha fields so prevelant across the internet? @JMC I did not know that Google now owns reCaptcha. Last time I looked it was a Carnegie Mellon project. |

Why are captcha fields so prevelant across the internet? @ChrisF I have used varying techniques to limit spam coming through my systems. Granted these are more work than implementing captcha but they give the user a better experience which I value more highly. One such simple way would be to implement Defensio or Akismet. |
