What affiliate network would you recommend and why? Adsense is a cost per click (CPC) program, not an affiliate program. |

Good CSS Books/Resource The Zen garden is getting long in the tooth. It certainly deserves accolades for what it has accomplished, but I really don't see it as being the most useful resource anymore. |

Why don't websites have a “description” meta tag in the head section? Google will use whatever they think is the best. DMOZ, description meta, or parsing out their own description. For SO specifically, it would be very hard to get a user to craft a decent description. (It's hard enough to get people to craft a decent question, lol) |

Why don't websites have a “description” meta tag in the head section? -1 You want the SAME description used for search engine results pages (SERPs) for EVERY page? If you care about click-through rates and conversions, this is NOT a trivial thing. In fact, I routinely BLOCK Google from using DMOZ listings by using the following meta tag: <meta name="googlebot" content="NOODP" /> |

How can I see what my web site looks like in various browsers? If I could legitimately run a Hackintosh, I probably would, hardware issues aside. But again, it's just one consideration. |

If I need HTTPS / SSL encryption on my web site, does it matter who I get my certificate from? It was in a book that I happened to have read while waiting for someone at Barnes and Nobles. I'll have to see if I can find it. There was also a discussion amongst some SEOs that generalized this, but its not on the web :( |

How can I see what my web site looks like in various browsers? Why Apple? Because you can't install OSX on Linux or Windows without violating the Terms of Service. |
