Apr 12	comment	Letting search engines know that different links to identical pages stress different parts of the page This creates memories of bad "Hello Googler, I see you're searching for X" sites -- but yes, it's an nice workaround. Of course, I'd also love that Google knows the relevant part of the page, but the idea is certainly interesting.

Jan 10	comment	When is meta description still relevant? Are you asking about the Stack Exchange sites in particular, or generally? It probably depends on the actual site if Google can generate a meaningful description on its own.

Also, always give the user the choice, no matter what their headers say -- I often switch back to English when being offered the German version, either because the translation is so awful, or because it's easier to read in English (MSDN, for example -- all the code is in English, so having the text in German means more context switching)
