comment Why should we use tags like p, span, hx tags when we can use CSS instead?
@Random832, a capital letter signifies the start of a sentence or a proper noun. <strong> doesn't meant ALL CAPS, it means strong, bold text that should be insisted on. People DO use it properly - one excellent example is the website you are on. <b> and <i> are purely presentational and are intended to be replaced by CSS.

@Random832, they are practically deprecated, being strongly discouraged by the W3C. Their use is purely for presentation and the W3C asserts that HTML should not convey presentation at all. If you want bold or italic text without an explicit emphasis then you should use CSS; otherwise use strong or em. See this question of StackOverflow, too: goo.gl/JGscq

No. <b> and <i> are deprecated. If you want your text to look bolt/italic, use CSS. If you want to convey the meaning of bold/italic text, use <strong> and <em>.

comment Way to list “Contact Us” email address on web site, yet reduce likelihood of spam?
It will also annoy the vast majority of users. No click, no copy-paste, gee, thanks, this is especially annoying on a small device like a phone, where you can't really type fast.

It would be a royal pain to write a bot to parse that text. On the other hand it's pretty obvious it's an e-mail address or something sensitive.

This won't be of much help against good bots. If the bot runs the JavaScript (which isn't a big thing to do - run the page in a browser engine and grab the generated HTML) it has a perfect address. Catching someone at gmail dot com is not a little bit harder than catching someone@gmail.com

@Evan Plaice, creating a regex for abc@xyz.com is just as easy as one for abc at xyz dot com. It doesn't matter if the bot picks text as an e-mail address, this technique is way too common to say it's of any help today.
