What seems more like spam? Which do users hate more? Transactional Emails or Marketing emails? +1, power users will turn off the annoying notifications, and casual users will appreciate the engagement off-site when they aren't necessarily active. |

How should we send our e-commerce store's email receipts and receive customer service emails? I used to use PostageApp for sending the email and Google Apps to receive the email. Having the domain name registered (and access to MX records) is all you really need! |

Own SMTP server vs SendGrid/PostmarkApp/CritSend/SMTP.com/etc @Till: I agree completely, I'm not saying it's a true disadvantage (compared to having to run your own server) but it's a disadvantage many people still recognize. |

Google Analytics - Referring Sites by Goal, is it accurate? Might be the problem, let me investigate a little more. It's just weird because people coming in from the blog are counting, as are Google search referrals, but anything from other sites (Like Stack Exchange sites or Hacker News) is not counting. Thanks! |

Own SMTP server vs SendGrid/PostmarkApp/CritSend/SMTP.com/etc Understood. At the current version of PostageApp, we actually only help with designing, sending, and managing the emails through your SMTP server. So if you're happy with your current set up, we have a great layer to place on top to help with design + reporting. Good luck! |

Sending Bulk Email/Newsletter (20,000 emails) - our SMTP server vs bulk provider, what software, etc Like Osvaldo mentioned, one of the great things about a provider like MailChimp is that they can give you all sorts of feedback regarding your campaign. Analytics are great to tweak your campaign for better click throughs and opens. |

Looking for recommendations for a server-side newsletter program Definitely made the right choice - outsource the management of all of the SMTP and deliverability stuff, and just focus on creating great emails. |

How to support email subscriptions to many rss feeds Burning a feed is pretty easy though, and once you have it set up you can pretty much forget about it. No need to manage lists. (Apologies if I am completely misunderstanding you.) |
