I'm a full-time web developer focused on the proper use of html/css. I'm a javascript novice with aspirations of becoming an expert one of these days, and I'm learning .net on the side.

Squeezing all the SEO out of a URL as possible I agree, I would think it would be more helpful for the search engines. But, if there are no other "content buckets" similar to "products" (services, or subscriptions, for example), and your customer really wants the url to be smaller, I would opt to just structure it as /<id>/<title> instead of p/<id>/<title>. |

Why do all of the various design grids neglect horizontal spacing? I'm not sure that I'm understanding exactly what you're going for. Line-height is just the space between lines of text (generally). Determining what would be appropriate really depends on the rest of your spacing. It sounds like what you're really looking for is appropriate spacing between elements such as header->paragraph, or spacing between content articles, etc. Is that accurate? |

Is it important to show the current year alongside my (c) Copyright symbol? For most, the copyright date could also be seen as a way to determine if the site is maintained or not. If the site has been around for a while, putting the full range of years would be an easy way to show longevity. Also, regardless of the intent of the copyright/date, if its listed as a few years old, the perception would be that the site isn't maintained and you could get traffic bounces as a result. |

.CO Domains. Worthwhile? In that domainers' community the speculation is that due to typos on the users end, the "m" will get left off when typing in a url for another site, which would bring traffic in that way. That's my understanding of what people are hoping for anyways. Most would confuse it with a .COM I would think. It'd be used more for those fishing for traffic (probably for non-legit purposes). If anything, a .com site should purchase the .co domain to redirect in case typos do occur. That's its only use in my opinion. |
