“Thank you for posting. Please stand by while you are redirected.” Needed? So in summary, this pattern is only necessary if you need to track your users' actions on the website? |

“Thank you for posting. Please stand by while you are redirected.” Needed? Am I reading you correctly in that calling PHP's header() function might actually be ignored? This worries me greatly. I was already aware about the HTML and JS redirection methods and how they are less reliable, but I never actually thought a server-side-sent HTTP header could actually be ignored. |

Should meta descriptions be unique for each page? Some web browsers store the page description as part of their bookmarking functionality. |

Creative ways to display long lists This is the correct answer. There's simply no other solution other than pagination for showing large result sets. |

Modernizing traditional Marriage Application Web Form I'm in favor of the "First Spouse/Second Spouse" suggestion because "same sex" doesn't also take into account transgendered people. Not to mention that as an LGBT person myself, I wouldn't be impressed if I had to check a separate flag in a form or survey, making me feel like I'm not being treated as equally as other clients. In all my websites I've never forced users to disclose gender. |

Clarify “canonical” word: Can someone please list the various uses of this word in SEO context, and point out correct or incorrect uses of it? Related answer: webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/5376/… Edit: If anyone is knowledgeable about this subject, I'd also like to know how the canonical fits in when doing pagination or sorting. If the pages are showing the same content, but in different order, is it really the same page? |

Are there any cross-operating-system, cross-browser bugs of which web-programmers should be aware? Yep. Input elements tend to differ in size/shape/appearance greatly between even mac and windows versions of the same browser. |

PageRank: will links pointing to pages protected by robots.txt still count? Are you asking whether or not you should be disallowing user functions in robots.txt, such as log in, log out, profile, etc.? Because I don't see how it's "shooting yourself in the foot" to link to your own login page. I guess the only conclusion is that there's no reason to disallow search engines from indexing the login page. |

SEO: adding an unecessary description key in dynamic url is it good or not? @Marco Demaio Having a unique string field doesn't mean you can't also have the regular numeric primary key. |

SEO: adding an unecessary description key in dynamic url is it good or not? I too use my own framework and I would like to get rid of the numeric ID so I'm wondering how you implement this. Are you performing a database query on any request that goes into the /product/ "folder", or do you have some kind of hash table that is constantly updated whenever you C/R/U/D products? |

SEO: adding an unecessary description key in dynamic url is it good or not? "I'm not interested in rewriting any url here and to whoever is an url-rewrite-addict I would suggest to read this Google official article." There's nothing wrong with URL rewriting if done correctly. I would go so far as to say that if you wish to have readable URLs, query strings should be eliminated entirely unless that item requires pagination or result sorting. |
