I'd like to learn how to code in C++ and Assembly, but a lot of my experience is with web (PHP, MYSQL, CSS, JS/JQ). I have a web and email server hosted in my living room on a box using Gentoo, but I'm using Linux Mint for my general use computers. I started using Linux 10-10-2010 with the beautiful Ubuntu 10.4

I'm currently starting my own business called Alaska Web Hosting. We develop secure websites, and host secure email and websites that we've developed.

comment How do I make Apache stop logging “ ModSecurity: Access denied”?
I figured out what it was. I have ports 80 and 443 (HTTP and HTTPS) open, and in a .htaccess file I have it set to redirect all port 80 requests to port 443. In my virtual hosts file, I was re-writing all of my security rules (one set for port 80, and another set of the same rules for port 443). Even with nolog specified on port 80, it was still appending to error_log. After removing all of the security rules from port 80 (because I realized they weren't necessary), everything gets forwarded to port 443 now and then is successfully dropped without being logged. No clue why that happens.

That's really strange. Suddenly, nolog works. I'm not sure what was wrong, but all I know is that it's working now. Thanks.

I tried using it that way and it still didn't work. Maybe it's because of drop?

I can't get nolog to work. I've tried SecRule REQUEST_URI "^/*admin" drop,phase:1,nolog and SecRule REQUEST_URI "^/*admin" nolog,drop,phase:1, and yes I restarted Apache both times. The documentation doesn't say anything about using nolog and phase:# at the same time though. Could this be causing the problem?

Have you checked your computer for malware? This is very common for malware to do. Try 2 different anti-virus scanners for the best results. At work, we use AVG Free and Malwarebytes

I see. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. And that's a good point on the topic of CDNs.

You can start by accepting my answer. That's +2 for you and +15 for me. If you answer a couple of questions, or ask a couple of questions you'll get to 15 rep in no time. The key is to put effort into your contributions, and try to make them helpful for more than just you.

It was worth a shot. Did you only have the modules I have enabled? I think that might be the issue. I also listed my entire VHost configuration. I even did a grep for "options" and saw no "-Indexes" @dan
