You missed the point entirely.

comment Can a site be 'penalized' by Google for going 'stagnant' for a long time?
There are already good answers here so I won't bother repeating what's already been said other than: if your stagnant content is valuable, it would not be in Google's best interests to penalize your site. It's very unlikely that you will be penalised.

I agree with this guy. A lot of good advice in here.

No. It is not enough if their browser doesn't support JavaScript or doesn't have it enabled.

comment How can I make sure my website will be available during a presentation?
This is the way to go. You could even go so far as to install a portable server on the stick, too. But since it's purely HTML and CSS there's no need for that.

comment Is it better for SEO if the URL has the same path as the breadcrumb?
The right thing to do is what's best for the user. That's what's good for SEO.

We'll need to see some code, or atleast the precise steps so we can try to reproduce the problem. Please add more detail.

comment Is it bad SEO practice to have two almost-identical URLs?
Dont focus too much on SEO. It will become blatantly obvious and could hurt you sooner or later.

comment How can a domain use its own nameservers?
Any idea why they deprecated nslookup? I really liked it.

comment Should a domain be accessible via IP as well?
Yes. It should. There is no need to go blocking perfectly normal and standard behavior. I have run into quite a few situations where I have been unable to reach a website at its domain, but looking up its IP address and visiting that did work. The ability to do this at this saved me from a lot of troubles.
