40-something gay green geek who remembers the first time he sent an email from Australia to someone in the UK and got a reply within an hour.
Which was quite something in 1984 since UWA only connected to UniMelb at 1200 baud or maybe 2400 baud twice a day to exchange emails and usenet and UniMelb had 9600 baud or maybe trailblazers off peak dialup links to the US.

How exactly is Google Webmaster Tools measuring “Site Performance”? This would also make it dependent on the average performance of the computers of the toolbar user set. While that make sense from a real world perspective, there are lot of old, slow XP machines still out there (though whether they are stackoverflow's audience is a separate question.) |

Does Google cache robots.txt? I checked webmaster tools: the robots.txt file is valid and it was most recently fetched 17 hours before the most recent visit to those pages by googlebot. I suspect it is a question of propagation through google's network - eventually all googlebot servers will catch up with the robots.txt instructions. |
