Which hosted ecommerce solutions allow customization? On the other hand, I can't seem to be able to find a reliable framework for a self-hosted solution, as described in my original post. So far I got time and budget constraints from my customer and technical constraints from all possible solutions (either hosted or self-hosted). I'm starting to think that there isn't a way to do what customer is asking, the way he's expecting it. |

Which hosted ecommerce solutions allow customization? Thanks for your answer. I came to the same conclusion today, which puts me in an awkward position. I studied BigCommerce platform, but their API is not sufficient for what my customer is trying to achieve. Specifically, there's the need to "tap" into the workflow and do some operations immediately after a purchase is made. API systems don't normally implement real-time events. Also, even if their system were able to initiate a conversation towards our own server, it would have to pass sensitive data and, again, server side coding would be required (Javascript is not suitable for this purpose). |

Which ecommerce framework is fast and easy to customize? Thanks for your opinion, it's welcome and I don't think you've been rude. Unfortunately, Magento is definitely out of the game, as the initial costs are way too high: - In terms of resources. A software that demands more and more hardware is extremely poor, no doubt about it. - In terms of knowledge. I can't afford, nor I want to support "elite" developers who are the only ones able to run a system (even worse if they are "academics"). Thank you anyway for your time. :) |

Which ecommerce framework is fast and easy to customize? I'd have to check which agencies are available and how much they would charge for everything. I saw that there are many hosted solutions too, but customer has clearly stated that he's not willing to pay a high monthly fee. The budget to put the shop online with the customisation is well below five figures, and it's supposed to include the design. |

Which ecommerce framework is fast and easy to customize? Developing a complete custom system is out of question, not enough time for it (and for sure no budget). Also, I don't have the interest in creating and maintaining it, as it would be a once-off project for a customer and not a product I would be reselling. |
