comment How to make Google ignore an element on a page (without using HTML comments)?
Google will show the text snippet it believes is most relevant to the user's search query. You'd be better off trying to figure out why it believes your add to cart buttons are more relevant than the other content on the page, and trying to improve that content appropriately.

comment Securing images from browsers and humans
If an unauthenticated user tries to access one of the private image URLs directly, are they prompted for authentication? If yes, then you have nothing to worry about. If no, then that's what you need to fix.

Where is the 'DNS Zone editor' in which you're editing the records? Your domain's DNS is using *.microsoftonline.com name servers.

Indeed, it definitely shouldn't take more than a couple of days. At this point we'd probably need to know your domain name to investigate further.

comment How to tell search engines to not index entire image domain without making them waste server bandwidth or making google complain
Just read your other related question. Personally I would just put the robots.txt back in, but use the proper Disallow: / syntax (not noindex). Make sure you're not linking to the root of the image domain anywhere, if that's what the error in webmaster tools was complaining about. If that error persists, allow Google to crawl the root of the domain but not images (i.e. do Disallow: /images or similar depending on what your URLs look like).

Why can't you just add a robots.txt to the root of the image domain if you don't want anything on it indexed?

comment requesting for downloadable files via HEAD
The accepted answer there quite clearly indicates that the content length header should be present for responses to HEAD requests. One of the uses for HEADs is to allow useragents to see the size of a resource to see whether they want to download it.

Have you tried using the Google 'fetch URL' tool that is mentioned in the question you linked to? That would give you a definitive answer.
