I am a developer who focuses mainly on web technologies.

I also run a handful of websites covering a wide range of topics.

I enjoy nothing more than breaking (then rebuilding) the web.

comment Google Analytics reporting pages with no titles set - how do I debug this?
This was not the case, thanks for the idea though.

There is a Magento Stack Exchange you might want to get involved in, magento.stackexchange.com

comment Finding out who owns a Google Analytics UA code
Thanks again for the spyonweb.com suggestion, that is what we used to ascertain who we think is looking after it, but as I say they are saying they don't - we really need a canonical answer from somewhere official.

comment Finding out who owns a Google Analytics UA code
Thanks @milo5b but we don't want ownership, we just want to be able to pass on who does to the client. Also I presume claiming ownership would be like setting up a new GA account so historical stuff would get lost. Finally, we don't have FTP access.

comment What books or articles are must reads for learning about SSL management
Good point. I would have imagined there would be some books or articles that would cover all things SSL (including HTTPS).

comment Hide elements for Google
It is worth mentioning that the elements mentioned normally have your navigation in - Google needs these to be able to spider the site accurately.

comment What wireframing tools can produce something that looks like a finished website?
Here is one such example of what I mean by 24 ways - 24ways.org/2009/make-your-mockup-in-markup I am not saying don't wire frame, I am saying do it in the browser.

Pretty much anyone who advocates responsive design - do a quick Google and you will see.

comment phpbb and filesystem storage
I don't agree with it either, but it seems to be the way of it for phpBB - perhaps a misguided security attempt?

comment phpbb and filesystem storage
The files saved are not valid files, it is almost like they are a hash of information. It may be possible to create the file again just using the stored information on the file system but I doubt it since you would have nothing to go on (if you should try and create a png, or gif, or whatever)

@Dan - I don't follow - what I am saying is removing ad space as part of responsive design.

comment Dropping adverts during responsive design changes
Well lets say I charge someone £100 for advertising on my site, do I need to put on a disclaimer to say you are really only buying adverts on pages that are viewed over a certain size.

comment What kind of markup to use on a website to make data more semantic?
Schema.org seems to be what Google is suggesting nowadays and compliments HTML5 better in my opinion.

comment Why, on StackExchange sites, is the post title on the question page a link to itself?
+1 for the third point - I think the Canonical URL is the main benefit for websites.

@Lèsemajesté I assumed that based on the fact they want to define variables for editing instead of chunks of text.

I removed the Linode tag because this is not relevant to the question.
