Programming questions would be better suited at StackOverflow. Even then, this question is very broad and probably would be closed anyway. –  John Conde Nov 23 '10 at 18:31

Fair enough. Thanks. –  WassiMan Nov 23 '10 at 18:35

Php is a great programming language as your first. The reason is that there are tons of code examples, works on Windows, Mac and linux, and its not going away any time soon. –  Frank Nov 24 '10 at 0:10

Php also has frameworks for MVC which lets it do pretty much what Rails does. PHP code is very similar in sytax to javascript. A serious route you could take is to learn: CSS, HTML, Javascript, PHP and SQL. That skillset would get you very far. Alternatively you could learn a language like C# or VB.net which takes longer to master, and then ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC to code for windows servers. My advice, PHP is the best begginer programming language. I personally love ASP classic, but ASP classic is dead, and not supported by MSFT any longer. –  Frank Nov 24 '10 at 0:13
