Webmasters Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for pro webmasters. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We have a site that we just created in Spanish (regular version is in English). We setup the site following google's recommendations. All seems good on that side.

However, today I noticed that Bing/Yahoo are ignoring the language setting on the page, and showing the spanish results for english users. Not all but some.

I haven't been able to find any information from bing to what they need to fix this. Right now I am going to block those sites from indexing the spanish site. Has anyone had this problem? Suggestions welcome.

EDIT: BELOW I ADDED WHAT THE INTEGRATION IS.

<html lang="es">
<head> <link rel="alternate" href="http://www.domain.com/" hreflang="en" />
<link rel="alternate" href="http://www.domain.com/es/" hreflang="es" />
</head>

I followed the rules outlined here.

How is the content language changed? And can you list the implementations you have made? –  Liam Sorsby Feb 6 at 19:56

Do you have a URL that we can visit? –  PatomaS Feb 7 at 0:37

Hi @LiamSorsby I have added some information above. Let me know if you have any other questions. –  RichardW11 Feb 10 at 13:03

So your default language is set to spanish? –  Liam Sorsby Feb 10 at 13:23

For the Spanish version yes. The english version is set to english. AND even though it's set to spanish. Bing still shows it for the english results. –  RichardW11 Feb 10 at 14:20
