Webmasters Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for pro webmasters. It's 100% free, no registration required.

A .NET site I am currently working on is being hit rather frequently by the Bingbot on the path:

/:80/robots.txt

This is obviously throwing the following exception:

System.Web.HttpException: A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (:).

The bot is valid (I've run a reverse DNS etc), but what I need to know is why it is calling the incorrect robots.txt path.

There are no IIS modules preventing access, rewriting or redirecting.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
