One of my clients websites started getting 404 messages on some pages after doing 301 redirects via .htaccess file. I don't understand why that happens, could someone tell me what went wrong?

The website is published using Wordpress.

There can be many reasons for this. But without seeing the htaccess file, we may not be able to give out any definitive answers. So I suggest you post your code here for us to review. You may be redirecting your pages to a directory that does not even exist, and hence the 404 errors. – Robin Thomas May 14 '13 at 1:56
Can you please post the code that you have used in .htaccess file for redirection? – user2434 Sep 11 '13 at 10:56
