We have a server for IIS 7.5 set up in our DMZ zone for clients to connect to through VPN only, so the client connects through VPN and then uses a web service "locally".
We would like to apply our wildcard cert to IIS (not a problem) however the server does not have a DNS as it is completely standalone. We can access the server through it's Machine name, and have tried re-naming the server in IIS to the actual name we want to use...however this then doesn't work?
We would like to end up with the following (names and IP changed for posting):
Machine Name : DMZ-SERVER-01 IP Address : 184.108.40.206 IIS : DMZ.MYCOMPANY.COM.QA SSL CERT : *.MYCOMPANY.COM.QA Web Service : HTTPS://DMZ.MYCOMPANY.COM.QA/WebService.ASMX
We have tried adding
DMZ.MYCOMPANY.COM.QA to the Hosts file, pointing to both 127.0.0.1 and 220.127.116.11 but this doesn't resolve to the site. DMZ-SERVER-01 still does though?
Does anyone know how to acheive this - do we have to rename the Machine name?
