I am based in Europe and I would like to test my website as if I am located in New York. I have some specific features that will be visible based on cities.

Also this is not about anonymous browsing. – Imageree Feb 4 '13 at 20:14
I think you yourself don't understand what people are telling you. No offense, but the reason for existence of VPNs and Proxies isn't only to allow anonymous browsing. Actually: That's the least important reason why they exist. Everyone gave you right solution already: Use VPN or Proxy. This will change where server can "see" you from. You cannot change the location of IP but you CAN change the IP ITSELF! So if you want to test your website as if you'd be located in other city - use proxy that's located in that city. – MarcinWolny Feb 4 '13 at 21:43
Nice One MarcinWolny for explaining... – Simon Hayter Feb 6 '13 at 0:28
Imageree if you don't like the VPN method then I suggest you hope over to stackoverflow and ask how you can edit your website to detect you as the administrator and tell it that you are located in this region and that region etc. As an administrator you should be able to do this, unless your website is poorly made.. no offence. – Simon Hayter Feb 6 '13 at 0:29

You have a few solid options that will return results in Google and display the site as you was actually in their country. The most common methods are Proxies and VPN (Virtual Private Network) This are available as free or paid, paid services tend to be fast and not very noticeable your using a server to connect to a desired site. While a Free Service is normally painfully slow at times and especially noticeable when downloading or watching videos on such sites as YouTube.

I won't go into every plus and negative about both but what you should know is that VPN tend to me much more secure than proxies due to encryption and the authentication system works.

A Few Free Proxies Services

  1. Zend2
  2. BoomProxy
  3. Aniscartujo

A Few Free or Trial Based VPN Services

  1. JustFreeVPN (Canada, US, UK)
  2. VPN Book (EU)
  3. BestVPNUK (UK)
  4. HideIPVPN (Various Trials in Multiple Regions)
  5. FlyVPN (Korea, JAPAN, US)

There is also many more online simply Google VPN or PROXIES and your soon be overwhelmed.

I don't need anonymous browsing. I need to be able to select how does my site look like if I am based in Boston, how does it look like if I am based in New York and so on. – Imageree Feb 2 '13 at 16:17
Then you use a VPN in New York, a VPN in Boston... – Simon Hayter Feb 6 '13 at 0:23
Take vpnpop.com for example they have VPN's in New York, Dallas etc etc... if you want another way then I suggest you get your website to override the settings using your IP so you tell your IP is infact BOSTON, NEW YORK etc. You should be more clearer in your question as you have been given many answers. – Simon Hayter Feb 6 '13 at 0:26
"how does it look like if I am based in New York and so on" - Err if gives you an IP of that in New York? Or Boston... Whatever you choose. – Simon Hayter Feb 6 '13 at 0:30

Based on how you implemented it you could set up a local proxy (or even re-configure your local webserver) to explicitely send X_FORWARDED_FOR headers with specific IPs related to NY.

There's a lot of applicable resources to test this without the need of installing a proxy, VPN or something else, like

  • Loads.in (Seems to be not working properly for me, however looks competent)
  • Webpagetest.org (Slow but working with good information)

However I find them very incompetent since they need ages to load and Loads.in seems to not work at all (maybe just me?)

Just-ping.com is fast and good if you only need to test the speed, however if you are looking for browser compatibility, css and js hooks (to see how fast they load and act), etc. then there's not much from my point of view you could use. Since I really don't know what you are exactly looking for give this makeuseof.com/tag/10-free-online-tools-test-website-loading-speeds-create-faster-webpages a shot.

(Sorry for the cripple links at the end, but apparently new users cannot post more than two links in one post.)

I want to see how my websites look like when someone based in Boston is browsing it, when someone in Seattle is browsing it and how it looks like when someone in New York is browsing it. It is not related webpage speed so your links - loads.in and webpagespedtest wont work. I have specific features just for people in Boston and different features showing if you are in New York based on ip address. – Imageree Feb 2 '13 at 16:14

There's are VPN's you can use. HMA VPN & https://www.overplay.net/ are a couple you could get for like 10 bucks per month.
