I've been looking for a while for a list of specific RIPE guidelines of acceptable uses for an IPv4 subnet allocation. I've recently put in a request to my server host for an allocation of a /29 subnet with the reason that I had recently installed SolusVM onto my server and was needing the subnet for creating new VPS as each SolusVM requires each VPS to have a dedicated IP address and can't be bound to a port (I tried, maybe it's possible but have not found out a way (perhaps if it is possible someone could point me in that direction)). Anyways my host came back stating that the reason was invalid and that they wouldn't be able to allocate a subnet for that purpose.
I have no complaints against my host (who will remain unnamed) but was just interested in what some valid reasons for IPv4 allocation are. I know SSL, sometimes DNS but not always, any others?
Please note this is in no way a question to gain excuses to provide my host. I'm looking for a list of acceptable reasons
