Webmasters Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for pro webmasters. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I want to ensure that the traffic between the browser and my app is encrypted, and that visitors don't have to click through a scary "unverified certificate" dialog.I'm looking over the SSL certificate options. and also i need a certificate with minimum cost. I haven't implemented SSL on a site before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GoDaddy has excellent prices on SSL certificates and you can often find promo codes on the web for 30% off sometimes more. If you are only securing your main domain example.com a standard SSL is good enough as that will secure both example.com and www.example.com. If your application and website uses subdomains you'll need a wild card SSL

StartSSL offer free domain-validated certificates and have the added bonus of not being GoDaddy. – Ladadadada Aug 6 '12 at 11:29
