My Website Link is posted in someone else website, i asked for removal but can't get reply, google crawl his website and my website link is posted on that how to control that is that is possible?

i ask to him , he said he will remove when he will got time, they are using application version 1 (which not allowed to edit content app 2 allow to edit i ask him to upgrade they said don't have time)

@JohnSmiith: If you dont want that page to be listed in google, you can simply follow the "mgkrebbs" answer. But, if you expect, your link needs to be removed from someone's site, only they can do it. If having the link in their site is a trouble for your business then you have to lodge a complaint as "DisgruntledGoat" said. – sundarscorp Jul 26 '12 at 13:39
@sundarscorp that link is posted by my firend in past, when i ask the owner to remove he said "the version of application that i am using not allowed to remove i will remove when i got time" – John Smiith Jul 26 '12 at 14:06

You can't control what another site contains, unless it has your copyrighted content on it, in which case you can, in the U.S., attempt to use the DMCA, and failing that use legal action.

You can control what reputable search engines, like Google, index from your site. You can use robots.txt to exclude the search engines from the page or the directory to be "hidden". You can also detect the search engine robot requests by user agent value and return 404 to them.

Unless you do technically illegal things (ranging from fake DMCA to hacking), you cannot. The only way is to contact the webmaster of that website and ask for removal.

Your only real recourse is to send a DMCA request to Google requesting the removal of that page from their index. But if the other party replies and that will obviously fail.

Other then that you're out of luck since you cannot force anyone to alter the content on their website.

Question is about another site having a link to OP's site, not copyrightable content, so a DMCA is inappropriate since he can't validly claim ownership. – mgkrebbs Jul 24 '12 at 19:15

Google doesn't really need a link to know about your website. Since they are a registrar they have access to the root servers and know of mostly every new domain registered.

@DisgruntledGoat the title is "hiding your website links from search engines" and tagged his question with seo. My answer has to do with his question. Even if the link didn't exist Google would most likely know about his site. He didn't ask about the link affecting rankings which it may or may not do depending on the link and the page. Either a link is Good or it's not counted. Google's not going to allow people to build bad links and affect another websites rankings negatively. That or the link page is ranking along with his domain and he doesn't want it to. – Anagio Jul 25 '12 at 11:18
