I developed a plugin which allows people to download videos from YouTube. It's open-source if that matters. Is my plugin legal to distribute and use?

How does the use of your plugin differ from viewing the content as a user regularly would? In either case, the user will be downloading the content to view it. – danlefree♦ Jun 11 '12 at 15:40
no that plugin consist of Html for and php class when user enter user it generate download links – John Smiith Jun 11 '12 at 15:50

YouTube is owned by Google. There are hundreds of plugins for Firefox and Chrome which can download videos from YouTube. I think it is not illegal but it's against YouTube's Terms of Use.
