So I know that this question will vary heavily for the type of website, but here it is.

Imagine you have a $1000 to spend on your new website. You can handle development and hosting yourself. In what way would you spend it to push it into a legitimate business?

I would imagine most of it going towards advertising, yet I find it is very hard to assign a number to the about of users $1000 can buy.

So to you veterans out there, how do you invest on your website? Withstanding the common overhead of development and maintenance, what would you spend it on? How many and how quickly can money buy users?
