Webmasters Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for pro webmasters. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I want to track my website's position in Google's search results for around 50 keywords/phrases and I am looking to a nice web service or Windows application to automate this process.

Ideally, I want to see pretty Javascript or Flash line graphs for my keywords and their positions.

I'm currently free-trialing Raven Tools and Sheer SEO but I am not particularly impressed with either.

My budget is up to £25-30/$30-40 per month for a decent rank checker.

Where can you ask question like this if this webmaster site is not the right place? This question is not too open ended. –  Imageree Aug 5 '10 at 21:16

Sorry that your question was closed. I'm surprised that it was closed considering that the question is about SEO and posted on a website for webmasters. –  Mee Aug 19 '10 at 23:40

I'm voting this question up - it should be reopened. It is exactly the kind of question that community wiki was invented for. –  rjmunro Oct 15 '10 at 16:54

This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:

  • "Questions asking us to recommend a tool, library or favorite off-site resource are off-topic for Pro Webmasters as they tend to attract opinionated answers and spam." – Stephen Ostermiller

I used many software in the past and no one really fit my need but I can suggest one of the following:

  • WebCEO: the desktop software is feature rich but sluggish and a bit expensive. It's charts are horrible IMHO. They also provide a web version of the app with a modern and slick interface.
  • RankTracker: fast and with a good set of features, nice charts included. You can try it for free.
  • Free Monitor for Google: freeware and pretty fast, can track only Google SERPs. No charts.

By the way the standard disclaimer applies: Scraping Google SERPs is against Google TOS.

+1 for including a free option. –  Martin Vobr Nov 9 '10 at 0:30

I like free tools and found this SERP checker that is very simple, free and efficient:

http://www.positeo.com/check-position/

The Plus:

  • It's free
  • you get the details of the SERP ranking on the different Google datacenters.

The Minus:

  • the page is in French, but you can check google ranking on different countries and languages.
  • you need to check manually.

(I have no interest on this site and do not know these people; I just like the tool)

If you want a really useful SERP tracker, which is fine with your budged, I can suggest to try Wyolyzer SERP Tracker.

It is a low cost solution, for 50 keywords costs only 15$/month. Graphs and reports are available.

Been using SEOElectric which is a non API based SERP Tracker, its not good to have API's in these types of web-panels... as the results differ from natural search results... I've checked out Raven and the others and there's always something shy

SERP Tracker for your own server, just place it on your server and if you need over 30 or so keywords, just start adding proxies...super cheap and excellent way to track your SERPs.

This tool isn't free, you purchase a yearly license and whilst the tool is okay, it lacks features, is really sluggish in Windows and isn't being developed quick enough. –  zigojacko Feb 17 at 13:20

Google has a serp tracking tool, Google Webmaster Tools

Lots of pretty graphs but you are limited to those keywords that people are actually using to find your site. If your site is optimized for SEO those keywords should be the same ones you want to track anyway.enter image description here
