I want to track my website's position in Google's search results for around 50 keywords/phrases and am looking to a nice webapp to automate this process? Ideally i want to see pretty line graphs for my keyword/position.

I'm currently trying: Raven Tools and Sheer SEO but am not particularly impressed with either...

I guess my budget is upto £25-30/$30-40 for a decent bit of software

How about a free web application that actually works?

Google Webmaster Tools provides ranking data (which you can search and even export if you like) - it's likely to be far more accurate, given that Google implemented personalized search in 2009 and the results a rank-checking app provides in violation of the Google T&CoS will likely be inaccurate anyway:

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

Could you please provide more information. Why is it the best ? What features does it offer to convince a person. – phwd Mar 16 '11 at 4:11

I would definitely either recommend building it yourself, or hiring someone else to do it. Not only would you have full control of it and it would be fit to your exact requirements but in the long run you might even save money (if you would otherwise be paying for a subscription service).

I've just started using SEO Watcher, which is a module for Drupal. It tracks up to ten queries, will also show up to 5 competitors' positions, and creates nice graphs of the results. It currently only uses yahoo.com and google.com (though there's a patch in the issue queue to change that if you want). The biggest reason I chose it is because it's done in Drupal so I can easily modify it to fit my needs. Obviously you need a server somewhere to host it on.
