2013 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Hello all,

my name is David. I have been part of StackExchange for some time now and although I have yet to start collecting badges, flags, reviews and so forth, I do participate, read, edit and answer questions on here about topics I love, know about and can contribute to.

I have been part of the online revolution since day one. I have seen both bubbles burst and yet I managed to build successful online presences for some of the largest airlines, tourism brands, consumer and fashion brands worldwide. I am not here to woe you with my past, but with the future to come. As I see it, Pro Webmasters is not only a Q&A site, it's a hub where tomorrow's developers and webmasters get insight from people with knowledge. A business angel type of relationship, where we, the people of Pro Webmasters, are the business angels.

When the people of Pro Webmasters do the moderation – not the badge- & stats-collectors – then Pro Webmasters will have a moderation team they can fully trust.

And all this is why I’m here today to announce my nomination for candidacy to become a moderator on Pro Webmasters.

All the best and good luck
DKOATED, aka. David

My qualifications:

  • Active member for over a year (just earned the “fanatic” badge for visiting every day for 100 days)
  • Plenty of experience answering questions, editing posts, flagging spam, voting to close the cruft, and taking care of the review queues.
  • History of being helpful to new members with comments on closed questions
  • Professional webmaster -- I’m a programmer by training and a now build interactive and highly scalable websites for a living.

As a moderator I would:

  • Check the site daily to perform moderator tasks
  • Move off-topic questions to the appropriate site
  • Continue to provide constructive feedback to new members (especially when their questions are closed)
  • Help keep the site free of spam

I like so much this community because this website (like other StackExchange websites) is so well designed. I participate to the community for five months and I nearly accumulated 2000 of reputation.

I like making this website cleaner and useful by:

  • editing questions and answers to improve formatting, content... (maybe I have already edited one of your post)
  • reviewing various posts like first posts, late answers...
  • flagging useless questions and answers (mainly spam)
  • helping new users to understand how this website works
  • participating to Meta when I find something useful to ask or answer

For the rest, you can access to my statistics.

I like webmastering and I'm a professionnal and even if being a moderator of this website is possible without this qualification, I think it's important to say.

I'm patient, rigourous, leader and I like so much helping people. I'm drugged of this website and I would like to participate to the community as a moderator.

My name is Simon and I am 31 years of age, I’ll start this off by letting everyone know why I am a community member of Pro Webmasters. I sincerely enjoy all things webmasters from Google Analytics to SEO, I want to become a moderator because I want to give back to the community as well as helping out the current moderation team.

I believe that I am very active and have what it takes to become a moderator, I love what Stack Exchange stands for and love how we the community run our ‘Community’. I think if I was to be nominated by the community and become a moderator I don’t think there would be much change, I am already editing, voting, flagging and helping out anyway I can, though I would believe I was making a bigger difference to the every day operations of Pro Webmasters and believe that I can make this a better community for present and those to be.

I am in a good position in my life presently to contribute a lot of time to the community and carry out any additional tasks that may be assigned to me. I strongly believe that I can treat everyone with the respect they expect and bond with the current mod team.

I welcome and look forward to reading any comments you may have.
